Military Camp Area
This is an area with an unequivocal military and warlike appearance where the figure of the horse is the most important one, circling around reveilles, tents, standards and pennants.
Muslim cities were outward-looking. In contrast to Christian cities, there was much extramural activity in Andalusi cities, not just for the amusement of their inhabitants but also for political, religious, fun and military purposes.
The musara was a very large levelled area which was basically a place for military exercises and training, horse races and, in general, the amusement of the city’s population. It also happened that this was where battles were fought to fend off those who might try to lay siege to the city.
